Storyboard Text

  • Shot 1: Establishing shot of London
  • Shot 2: Medium close-up shot filmed in a city
  • Shot 3: Long shot filmed with a skyscraper view
  • With this shot introducing the location, the audience recognise a modern and urban feel to my music video. After analysing previous music videos, an establishing shot is often used at the beginning to make sense of the following narrative and therefore I followed this idea. The lighting portrays daytime.
  • Shot 4: Close-up of a photograph filmed in front of a brick wall
  • This shot is a medium close-up of my main character. The audience can see personal features such as her eye colour and earrings which establishes a connection with the audience. In addition, the pink clothing suggests the message of women empowerment and stands out since the background features dull colours.
  • Shot 5: Travelling shot filmed in London Underground
  • Here, the audience are introduced to the other characters, Indie's supportive friends who help her forget about her ex. The message of femininity is presented as the characters wear pink clothing since this is a colour associated with femininity. Also, the clothing suggests a modern vibe as my actresses wear branded trainers such as Adidas and Nike which the audience can relate to.
  • Shot 6: Close-up of a text conversation
  • A close-up shot of a photograph is shown to the audience. This photo shows two silhouettes hugging, appearing to be on a date. Therefore, this shot adds to the narrative as the audience recognise the main character was once in a relationship. However, moments later a lighter burns the photo highlighting pain and anger to the audience. Therefore, the audience acknowledge this was a happy relationship.
  • An urban and modern vibe remains because the location is in London's underground, a recognisable location. The travelling shot follows the main character, Indie, through the station as she lip-syncs to the audience about her heartbreak. My main character breaks-the-fourth-wall and adds to the performance element. Her appearance is casual but urban with her hands in her coat pockets. This suggests it is cold.
  • This close-up shot adds to the narrative as a conversation between two people is revealed to the audience. The first text message writes 'I miss you' denoting affection, suggesting a previous relationship is missed. However, the reply implies the main character does not feel the same. Therefore, highlighting the main character is over her heartbreak and has moved on. This shows strength and inspiration to my audience.
  • Sorry, who is this?
  • I miss you
