  • The king is dead
  • King James l believed in the Divine Right of kings.  He believed because of this he did not have to work with Parliament.  This began to start tension between Parliament and monarchy. 
  • Well this isn't good
  • William! William! William! William!
  • James where are you going? 
  • During 1642 the civil war between the King and Parliament began. The supporters of the King were known as the cavaliers and the supporters of Parliament were known as the roundheads.
  • Oliver Cromwell won the civil war for Parliament.  After the war Oliver had King Charles l beheaded if font of the town. As Oliver ruled he became a dictator and ruled until death in  the year  1658.

  • King James ll was crowned king and that was the start of the revolution.  A group of English nobles asked William of Orange to come and over throw James ll.   King James ll flees to France. 
  • William and His wife Mary take over and rule after the revolution was won with no bloodshed.
  • After taking the throne King William and the Parliament created the bill of rights which laid  the foundation for the constitutional monarchy.
