  • situational irony- irony involving a situation in which actions have an effect that is opposite from what was intended, so that the outcome is contrary to what was expected. verbal irony- verbal irony is when words express something contrary to truth or someone says the opposite of what they really feel or mean. Verbal irony is often sarcastic. dramatic irony the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
  • verbal irony 
  • She blames her friend for being unhappy for ten years. But for one if she would have just been happy with wearig roses to the party she never woukd have had the necklace, for two if she wouldnt have lost the necklac then she woudlnt have to be paying it back and hree if she would have been honest she could ha ve had to pay 400 francs and nhot 36,00 
  • its all your ault that i was unhappy and spent the past 10 years of my life paying back the necklace 
  • dramatic irony 
  • before she lost the necklace she was young, beautiful and very unhappy but after she spent ten years replacing the fake necklace she was more happy but she had gotten old and unattractive. Someone who  cared about beauty so  much got her beauty taken away from her 
  • if she would have been honest about this and told her friend that she lostthe necklace then she would haven had to only pay back 400 francs, and not waste ten years of her life 
  • situational irony 
  • ya that necklace that you paid 36,00 francs for was only worth 400
