It is very important to learn easy ways to protect your skin and keep yourself safe.
But first let's head into the classroom and talk with our teacher Mrs. Smith about what our skin really is!
Hi guys! What would you like to learn today?
Jack and I wanna learn more about our skin and how to protect us from the sun!
First let's talk about the different layers of our skin to have a better understanding of what our skin is and it's functions.
The first layer of our skin is the epidermis. The epidermis is the outermost layer that covers our bodies. The function of the epidermis is to create a waterproof barrier . It also has melanin cells in it that make up the color of your skin dependent on how much melanin is produced in your body.
The Dermis makes up the second layer in our skin which is a thick layer of elastic tissue which contains many aspects such as nerves, sweat glands, hair follicles, sebaceous gland, and blood capillaries. The function of the dermis is to give the skin flexibility and strength as well as provide thermoseptors to help with thermoregulation of body temperature.
