  • In a direct democracy the people are the rulers once you reach a certain age depending on whatever country and follow all the rules. In a representative democracy we vote for our ruler(once you reach the age that the country minimum has set and you must follow other rules and regulations)and they make the rules with a group of officials.
  • Where did direct democracy begin?  Where is representative democracy used today?
  • Who is involved in direct democracy?  Who is involved in representative democracy?
  • The difference between direct democracy and representative democracy is is that the citizens of a certain area(city, state, country, etc.) elect a person to be the head of that area to represent us and to decide who gets to have other executive job. These representatives makes laws that we must follow. In a direct democracy the people rule. We the citizens make the laws.

  • The first direct democracy began with the athenians in 500 B.C. The first representative democracy began in 508 B.C
  • Democracy began in athens. Being born in 500 B.C. Representative democracy is being used in the USA.
  • Direct democracy happened because the ancient athenians were tired of the unfair laws being passed by the terrible government they had. It is best for us to use representative democracy because the people voting were easily manipulated into making bad decisions.
