"fair is foul, and foul is fair" "hail Macbeth king to be hereafter"
"The witches. What they said has come true! Could the next step be the throne itself? Could I become ... King?
"You must welcome king Duncan when he arrives. Smile with him. Look after him. But our guest must be taken care of tonight!
after winning the battle Macbeth and Banquo meet three witches who told Macbeth that he would one day become Thane of Cawdor and king of Scotland. They also told Banquo that his son would one day become royal.
"will all of neptunes great ocean wash this blood clean from my hand?"
"Done. It will look as if the servants have commited the crime. And see, my hands are the same colour as yours"
When Macbeth got back to the palace king Duncan made him thane of Cawdor. Then Macbeth thought about what the witches had said about him becoming Thane of Cawdor was true, so he would become king of Scotland as well.
In honour of Macbeth becoming Thane of Cawdor, the king decided to have a 'party' at Macbeths house. When Lady Macbeth receives the letter from her husband telling her about what the witches had predicted, she convinced Macbeth to kill king Duncan so that he could become king as soon as possible.
Malcom-"Donalbain, i dont trust anyone here, we must leave separately. Il'l go to England.
Donalbain-"Ireland for me then dear brother"
Lady Macbeth makes sure that the kings guards are drunk and then sends Macbeth off the commit the murder. Eventhough Macbeth isnt keen he really wants to be king. On his way there, Macbeth sees a ghostly dagger pointing in the direction of Duncans bedroom. Macbeth kills Duncan. In shock and still holding the bloody dagger, Macbeth goes back to the courtyard where Lady Macbeth then takes the dagger from him and places it on the guards.
"the dead king sleeps forever"
Later Macduff finds king Duncan dead in his room and has the lords arrest the guards. However, they find out that Macbeth had killed the guards. He says that he did it because he was so angry at them for killing king Duncan but it seemed very suspicious.
Macduff-"From the look of it is own servants did the deed. Their hands and faces are covered in blood and the daggers are nearby!"
Duncans sons are scared that they will be killed next and so the run away. Later on Macbeth is crowned king of Scotland.
Banquo-"Thane of Cawdor. And now crowned king. It has all come true. But did the witches make it happen or was it Macbeth himself?"
