- The speech was much the same each year : The initial speech at the Ceremony of Twelve was made by the Chief Elder, the leader of the community who was elected every ten years.
- "This is the time, when we acknowledge differences. You Elevens have spent all your years till now learning to fit in."
- Everyone was nervous but everybody knew their number.

- Asher was called up the stage to be given his job. After he was given his job the people started laughing because they were talking about his mistakes that he did as a child.
- And then he said "Smacc" instead of "Snack."
