Today class, we're going to be learning about Identity Theft. does anyone know what that is?
It's the fraudulent acquisition and use of a person's private identifying information, usually for financial gain
How do they get this information?
They can get the information from just getting a hold of your information. They can steal from you, or trick you into thinking you're using a certified program.
If you're a victim of identity theft, you can alert financial institutions of the crime and check your credit reports to see if there has been any unknown charges made to your accounts.
You can protect yourself from identity theft by shredding your documents, strengthening your passwords, checking your credit reports, and guarding your social security number.
