King Minos was an evil man, who forced Athens to give him their people as food for a beast. This beast was in his labyrinth.
The minotaur was a monster, with a love for human flesh. He was found in the centre of the labyrinth, waiting for his next victim. Waiting for his next meal.
King Aegeus was hopeless, knowing that if he did not comply there would be war. His son, Theseus, was furious, and said to his father, “I will go and i will kill the minotaur.” his father knew he could not stop him, so he agreed, looking melancholy.
And so, Theseus set off with 6 other people to be presented to king Minos, and to wander through the labyrinth to find the minotaur. When they arrived, King Minos degraded them, and sent Theseus to the minotaur first. Ariadne, Minos's’ daughter, fell for Theseus at first glance. She gave him string to find his way through the labyrinth.
He broke the Minotaurs neck and followed the string back out, and Ariadne came with him for her father would never forgive her for helping Theseus kill the minotaur and escape. He left her on an island, and the gods did not like his response to her generosity so they made him forget to change his sails.
Thinking his son was dead, he threw himself over a cliff and into the sea.
