Debate and annexation of Texas lead to the U.S-Mexico War over the borders and territories if the land between the two countries.
The U.S-Mexico War
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was created to end the war between the U.S and Mexico. The treaty stated that Texas, California, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, parts of Colorado and Wyoming were now U.S territory. However, the United States had to pay $18,250,000 for the land.
Texas and other parts of former Mexico are finally ours!

Today, Chicanos feel a connection to Aztlan because it was their ancestor's homeland. They feel connected to the culture and history that their people endured over the years. They feel that Aztlan belongs to them.
I feel a connection with this history because my ancestors lived in the Mexican land that was given to the U.S.
