There are two knights, in the town near St. Malo. One of the nights has been married to a women, recently. "Polite and polished, such a lady!"
"Now woods and meadows are green again."
Marie De France explains how the lady was in love with the other knight, not her husband. "They guarded their love under various covers and hid it from general sight."
"Her lord and master got all het up."
The lady and the other knight could only communicate by talking to eachother through the windows, so they would sit there at night and communicate.
"In a fit of temper her lord killed it."
The summer has began, and the birds are out chirping, and the lady the knight's love is stronger than ever.
The ladies husband got angry at her, because she was always getting up during the night and getting out of bed. So, he made her tell her why.
"With both hands the neck he broke and at the lady he through the body, getting her chemise all bloody." The husband killed the bird, because he did not want her leaving him in bed anymore, and the bird is what was causing that.
