Storyboard Text

  • How Laws Are Made In The US
  • The Idea
  • I have an idea!
  • I'll write it down.
  • The Proposal
  • All in favor?
  • Lindsey Merrill, Period 5, 4/18/18
  • To the Next House
  • The only acceptable age would be 18!
  • A person, whether or not they are a part of the government presents an idea for a law to a representative of congress.
  • The President
  • The Bill
  • The first house revises and votes on the bill and then it is sent to the other house. The bill can start in either house, but if it has to do with money then it must start in the House of representatives.
  • It Passes and Becomes Law
  • Did you hear about the new law?
  • Yes! Now the streets will be so much more safe.
  • The bill is then sent to the other house, that it didn't start in and this house revises it. From there a compromised bill is written and then both houses must vote on it again.
  • 21 would be much safer and reasonable.
  • Now the president looks over the bill and decides whether or not to pass it. If he vetos it then congress can override his veto with a 2/3 majority vote .
  • This seems like a mighty fine idea!
  • After getting approves by both houses and the president the bill becomes law.
