  • because they were so good at what they do, doctors were nicknamed "saw bones."
  • anethesia first came out in 1846 just 15 years before the civil war, it was used 90% of the time durring surgeries.
  • durring the civil war chlorform was used to help reduce the pain.
  • The biggest concern for the wounded was infection from such unsanitary places they were at, there wasnt any really good antibiotics back then like we have now so many died from this.
