The British arrive at the new land hoping to begin a new colony
The place they ended up is now known as the Ohio River valley.
I'm going to claim this land and make it my own!
Both the British and the French wanted more of the land.
Yet little did the British know, the French had such an advantage with the Native Americans.
Not so fast.
The Native Americans had joined the French side due to the fact that they didn't trust the British because of their hunger for land.
Before the British even got to the colony, the French had a thriving trade system and they weren't about to share that with the British.
The British tried to make a treaty with the Iroquois which was the most powerful group of Native Americans in eastern North America. They called for a meeting but the group would not agree to a partnership with the British. Instead, they agreed to stay neutral.
