  • Got it!!!
  • Remember one if by land two if by sea!
  • Onward, across the Charlestown River!
  • Hey YOU! Stop in the name of the KING!!!
  • I agreed with a Colonel Conant [provincial militia veteran William Conant] and some other gentlemen that if the British went out by water, we would show two lanthorns [lanterns] in the North Church steeple; and if by land, one, as a signal. This would be a similarity because it happened in both the poem and in the Deposition.
  • What's going on?!
  • Sir! You need to get out of here!
  • The regulars are comming!!!
  • I went home ... went to the north part of town, where I had kept a boat; two friends rowed me across the Charles River, a little eastward where the man-of-war Somerset lay. This is a difference because It only happened in the Deposition.
  • Are you an express?
  • Also there shall be 500 colonists waiting for you!!!
  • YES!
  • I set off son a very good horse; it was then about eleven o'clock and very pleasant. After I had passed the Charlestown Neck ... I saw two men on horseback under a tree. When I got near them, I discovered they were British officers. This is also a difference because it did not happen in the poem.
  • Yes! We did!!!
  • WE MADE IT!!!!!
  • In Medford, I awaked the captain of the minutemen; and after that, I alarmed almost every house, till I got to Lexington. This would be both a similarity and a difference because in the poem it doesn't say anything about the captain of the minutemen. Yet it says that he warns every house till he got to lexington.
  • I told him, and added that their troops had catched aground in passing the river, and that there would be 500 there in short time, for I had alarmed the country all the way up. This would be a difference because in the poem it doesn't talk about Paul being caught.
  • Then I could distinguish two guns, and then a continual roar of musketry; when we made off with the trunk. Lastly this is a difference because the poem never explained about a trunk of special Federalists Papers.
