  • Indian Removal Act
  • Native Americans were told that if they did not adopt European ways that they would be kicked off of their land and have to move.
  • Supreme Court Case
  • Settlers find gold on Cherokee land, prompting surrounding states to pass laws allowing people to settle on it. 
  • The Trail of Tears/Indian Territory
  • Jackson passed the Indian Removal Act making it so that all Native Americans had to move to an "Indian Territory" in Oklahoma.
  • Cherokee Native Americans challenged the Indian Removal Act in the Supreme court and won, however, Jackson ignored the ruling and removed them anyway.
  • The Native Americans were forced to leave and go to the Indian territory in Oklahoma.
