  • Martin Luther By:Kristopher Lione
  • Martin Luther was born in 1483, November 10. He became a monk because he promised St.Anne that he would devote his life to god because of a great thunderstorm that he was in the middle of.
  • While he was a Monk, he noticed how the priests were encouraging people to pay them to get into heaven. Martin thought this was against the bible, and people cannot buy their way into heaven, he believed that you had to earn it by doing good deeds.
  • So, he mad the 95 theses on why Indulgences should not be used. The Pope did not like this, and Martin Luther went on trial. He concluded that if no one could prove his theory wrong then he was right! He was later branded as an outlaw and was a criminal!
  • On the 15th of June, 1520, The Pope Issued Martin Luther A letter and in the letter was a threat that the Pope would excommunicate him if he did not take back what he said. Martin later publicly burned this letter on December 10th.
  • He Was officially Excommunicated in January 1521. So, then Martin Luther starts to create his own kind of Christianity, Lutheranism and marries Katharina von bora in 1525. He died on February 18, 1546.
