Ready Player One is like the "grown-up's Harry Potter". This novel is like a 70's-80's kids dream. Including cultural references such as the Atari, one of the first home game consoles, or Stephen King's the shining. This Novel overall is a thrilling and ridiculously relatable adventure story.
Antagonist-Nolan Sorrento and The Sixers
The year is 2044, climate change and overpopulation have finally taken it's toll on the Earth. In Columbus, Ohio 18 year old Wade Watts suffers this fate too. As he has to live with his dead-beat Aunt in a stacked rv park. Although he can escape to the massive virtual world The Oasis, made by John Halliday.
Conflict - Character vs. World
In the Oasis, you can change you're appearance to however you like. You can be a videogame character, Homer Simpson, even an animal! For our protagonist Wade Watts, he chooses to be Parzival. Although there are currencies in the Oasis. So he's limited to what he has. This doesn't change who you are on the outside though, Wade Watts will always be an 18 year old boy in Columbus.
The big bad IOI boss Nolan Sorrento and his virtual team, the Sixers, are out to challenge Halliday's hunt too for full control of the Oasis. But this isn't what this seems, they actually are the wrong kind of the people to rule the Oasis.
As the hunt goes on, the entirety of Oasis joins in to find the keys. Which means almost the entire current population of Earth is going up against each other. Unfortunately, Wade needs to get through some people to stop IOI and put the Oasis in it's rights.
