When I get to the soccer field I can feel my heart beat in my ears and it feels like my stomach is in a knot, but I just set it aside and head down to the field to warm up with team.
When we're done warming up my coach gives us a five minute speech on why we have to win this, "we have come this far and won every single game so far, it will be a harder game to win then it was this morning, but you guys can beat this team." Everyone heads out to field so that we can start the game.
All the straters are on the field as the whistle is blown. I can feel my stomach twist as the other team kicks the soccer ball and the final game begins.
We have possesion of the soccer ball as we make our way down to the other teams goal. By some miracle it seems like the ball finds the net just out of the goalies reach and our team is up one to zero.
The ref blows the whistle singnaling the end of game and shock and happiness overcomes my body. I run onto the field with everyone else from my team as we cheer and hug as one whole team.
Everyone heads down to the tent where they pass out the medals and our team gets our first ever first place medals. It is at this moment that I realize this is the first time my team has ever won a tournament.
