  • Rising Action
  • "Allen" "Anderson...Bentham"
  • Climax 
  • This isn't fair!
  • Children started to gather in the town square. Boys started gathering rocks and putting them in their pockets while the girls stood aside, talking among themselves.  
  •  Falling Action 
  • All of the people gathered in the town square and the lottery began. Mr. Summers started claling las tnames starting at the top of the alphabet. 
  • Resolution
  • Bill Hutchinson got the winning ticket and his wife Tessie was screaming saying it wasn't fair. Since Bill pulled the winning ticket now every member has to pull a ticket, even the children.
  • Irony
  • All of the ticket in the Hutchinson's family are blank except for Tessie's which has a black dot on it. Tessie won the lottery! The people of the town start to gather their rocks. 
  • Tessie starts screaming it isn't fair, it's not right. As Tessie screams the people of the town follow tradition by  stoning her, the winner of the "lottery".
  • This isn't fair! This isn't right!
  • An example of irony is a firehouse burning down fireman put out fires and its very unexpected to get a fire in a firehouse.
