Margot often told the children about the sun and Earth, but as they had never experienced it the envied and scoffed her. On this particular occasion, Margot told them about the wonderful sun back on Earth. They started scoffing and making fun of her, eventually deciding to stuff her in a closet, even though they were about to see the sun!
Humans are forced to move to Venus from Earth - possible causes: overpopulation, global warming.
The weather is dismal and it is always raining. The sun only comes out once every 7 years! So when it does it is certainly cherished. Because of the terrible weather, a lot of things are done underground including school. Some people migrated later than others, for example Margot, who used to see the sun every day and hasn't seen it for years. She writes the most beautiful poetry about the sun as she has actually seen it. She is now in class and waiting, along with her classmates, for the sun to come out.
Margot had always been different from the other children. Having seen the sun,
she missed it so much, and just like everyone else was very excited to see it.
The sun was beautiful for the brief period they saw it. But then it started raining, and Margot missed out on the brief moment of sun.
Margot was released out of her locker, but she missed the sun.
