This is a story of a kid named frederick douglass he was born in Maryland , his mothers name was Harriet Bailey she worked all day and at night she would walk about 12 miles to go see her kid .
Frederick grew up but he was still young to work in the fields so his job was to keep the chickens out of the garden , but his owner never made him forget that he was a slave all the slaves were feed Boiled cornmeal and it was placed in a wooden tray
They had an overseer his name was plummer his job was to make sure the slaves worked when fred was 8 his master sent him away so he got on a boat and headed to Baltimore and he stayed with a family there name was mr. and mrs. Auld and son.
Sophia Auld decided to teach frederick how to read . One day mr. auld found out that he was learning how to read . mr. Auld told his wife to stop reading to him .
Frederick never gave up he still wanted to read so every time the family is gone he starts to read, one day he was reading mr. auld saw him reading so than he took all of his books and Frederick never give up .
Frederick grew up he ran away from slavery than he went to New York than he married a women named Anna Murray they moved to massachusetts he started to read he got filled with joy and he wanted to end slavery and he made it .
