Storyboard Text

  • How unlucky! Not just the girl, but you also lost money.
  • I do not look over the money, but I do not to lose my Vilbia.
  • In what way are you able to keep her? The Roman soldier, the man of highest honor, asked for her. Hey! I threw a venus! Innkeeper! I order you to bring more wine.
  • The soldier, who deceived her, is a lying and lazy man. Vilbia, deceived by him, now rejects me.
  • It's not safe for this girl to go through the streets of this town. The arrogance of this solider is so great. I threw a dog again. You owe me another denarius.
  • I often warned her, "I do not believe in the solider, especially Romans." Vilbia, however having caught sight of this Modestus, loved him at once.
  • Scene 1: Bulbus and his friend are in the inn of Latro. They are drinking wine and playing dice. Bulbus owes his friend much money.
  • I gladly hand over denarius, not the girl. I hate that soldier.
  • Modestus, however, is not able to keep the girl, because I asked for help from a goddess. Entering the baths, I threw a tablet into the sacred spring. An awful curse, written on the tablet, now lies in the spring of the goddess.
  • Good heavens! You are unlucky! look! We approached Modestus himself. It is necessary for me to go as quickly as possible.
  • I am happily waiting for Modestus' death.
  • Modestus and Syrythio enter, which Bulbus did not see.
  • End of scene 1.
