  • Now, that you have it substituted, solve it. What was your final answer?
  • Yes, I did and my answer is 300/-5. What do I do next?
  • You then simplify it to -60. That would be your slope.
  • This really isn't that hard. I'm understanding the concept. What's the next step?
  • I'm glad to here that. You then find the y intercept.
  • And how do I find that?
  • Well in this problem, you don't have to find it, it's given. It's 300.  Now all you have to do it fill in the information into the slope-intercept equation y=mx+b
  • Yes, exactly. 
  • So the final answer would be y=60x+300?
  • Ok. First you would assign the points. I would make 8 x1 and 14 y1. I would also make 12 x2 ad 16 y2. 
  • Now, use the points (8,14) and (12,16) to find the slope and y-interceptand give me a step by step.
  • Good! Then what?
  • Then I substitute it into the formula m = (y2 -y1) / (x2 -x1) and that would turn into m = (16- 14) / (12 -8) and my slope would be 2/4 but  can simplify that and turn it into 1/2.
