Storyboard Text

  • The Start of a New Life
  • "When the monks came to retrieve you, you clung to my leg and refused to leave.
  • I would always make that same decision.
  • See You in Spring
  • "Not to worry little monkey, in two full moons we will see Spring again."
  • " Crane-man I hate the bitterly cold winters."
  • A Wise Fool's Decision
  • Oh dear...
  • "EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE VASES ARE HORRIBLE. I COULD NEVER SHOW THESE TO THE EMISSARY!"
  • When Tree-ear decided to live with Crane-man he had sealed his fate as an orphan. This showcases man v.s. society because in that time period, orphans were considered bad luck.
  • A Helping Hand
  • Crane-man, is that you?
  • As Tree-ear and Crane-man live under a bridge, come winter time they have to flee to an abandoned barn with a pit to survive the harsh winters. This is man v.s. nature because they are battling the forces of nature.
  • Min is very upset that the coloring on the vases is off. This is man v.s. self becuase he is being very hard on himself for this inevitable mistake.
  •                     New Beginnings
  • Tree-ear is so distraught and ashamed about the vases that he contemplates walking off the cliff. He then hears Crane-man speak to him and remind him about other forms of courage.
  • Leaping into death is not the only way to show true courage.
  •
  • After Crane-man´s passing, Ajima and Min asked Tree-ear to live with them. Ajima requests of Tree-ear to change his name to Hyung-Pil, in honor of their deceased son.
  • I won´t ever
  • Hyung-Pil, don´t forget to come home for supper.
