Ms. Franks, today the doctor has prescribed ciprofloxacin for you for your UTI. I know you have been in a lot of pain. This should really help. If you notice a rash, high fever, foul smelling diarrhea make sure to call and let the doctor know.
That is an antibiotic right? So I need to make sure I take it until I am totally finished- even if I feel good. Also, aren't there somethings I shouldn't take it with?
That is exactly right- make sure to finish. And, do not take it within one hour of milk, antacids, calcium, magnesium, iron or zinc. Those can all have an effect on the antibiotic. Also, with ciprofloxacin you do not have to take it with meals, but if your stomach becomes upset you can. Just make sure to take it at the same time every day. Never take two doses at once if you miss one.
