  • The Crucifixion and Burial of Jesus (Matthew 27:27-66)
  • Before they crucified Jesus, they offered him wine mixed with gall, but he would not drink it. In Golgotha (means "Place of the skull"), they crucified Jesus, along with two bandits.  Above his head, they placed a sign which said, "This is Jesus, the King of the Jews." Those who passed, mocked him. The soldiers mocked him. The two bandits mocked him. The chief priests mocked him.
  • The Crucifixion and Burial of Jesus (Matthew 27:27-66)
  • From midday, there was darkness. When it was nearly 3 o'clock, Jesus cried out "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?". The people thought he was calling for Elijah. One of the bystanders went to get sour wine for him, but the others said "Wait, let us see if Elijah will come and save him." And then Jesus died. The curtain of the temple was torn in two, the earth shook, and rocks split. Many bodies of Saints were raised, and they entered the holy city and appeared to many. The spectators were terrific and said "Truly this was God's son!"
  •
  • When it was evening, a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph (who was also a disciple asked for Jesus body, and Pilate ordered it to be given to him. He took Jesus body, wrapped him in clean cloth, and placed him in his own new tomb which he had built. He then rolled a great stone over the tomb.
  • The chief priests went to Pilate,  and said "Sir, before the imposter died, he said that he would rise again after three days. Place soldiers in front of the tomb to guard his body, otherwise his disciples might go and steal him away and tell the people that he has risen from the dead. It would be an even bigger deception than before." So the chief priests sealed the tomb and placed soldiers in front of it to guard it.
