Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of the the world's climate system. Because of this crisis, the world is experiencing natural disasters, ecosystems are changing making it difficult for animals to survive, and sea levels are rising. Instead of being stewards of creation, we are exploiting creation for our own benefit.
We burn fossil fuels for electricity and this releases large amounts of carbon dioxide which causes climate change.
Ms. Namey, how are we exploiting creation?
Cars contribute significantly to climate change because they release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
When cows pass gas they release methane into the atmosphere, further contributing to climate change. Because we raise a lot of cows for beef, our diet contributes to climate change.
Cutting down or burning trees releases greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and affects climate change.
You see children, God has put us on this earth to be caretakers of the planet and to maintain his creation for current and future generations. It is one of our Catholic Social Teachings.
