I became a voyager because my father became very ill and had a tragic death. I will be leaving behind my family and my cat Scrunchie.
I am holding up good since leaving but my blisters and soreness are getting in the way of my paddling. I get along great with my brigade. I made a new best friend and his name is Gerio.
My brigade decided to portage. It was very tough to carry everything. It made my whole brigade tired and sore, but once we were done we celebrated by singing a french song.
Crossing Lake Superior was very dangerous because of all the strong winds and waves. My brigade stayed in the middle so we wouldn't crash along the shoreline.
When my brigade and I made it to Grand Portage it was time to celebrate. The trading posts were packed with traders and clerks. In the distance we knew we made it because we saw other canoes and, trade goods, and people.
I decided I am going to winter over because I wanted to celebrate the holidays with my brigade and I wanted to learn how to hunt. My experience as a voyager was amazing and crazy because it came with a lot of decisions like if we should run the rapids or portage. I am definitely signing on next summer.
