Today we will be learning about protein synthesis.
Transcription is the first step in protein synthesis in which a particular segment of DNA is copied into RNA (mRNA) by the enzyme RNA polymerase. The DNA is unwinded and made a complementary strip to fit it. The DNA then winds back up to become a double helix.
The end result of transcription is an mRNA that then find a ribosome to go through translation.
The second step is translation which occurs in a ribosome. In this stage, the mRNA is turned into a protein. The ribosomes reads the RNA, and complementary amino acids are brought to the ribosome by tRNA. After the ribosome reaches the end, the RNA makes some modifications and will fold into a specific 3D protein.
The end result of translation is a protein.
