Across the seas, a warrior named Beowulf heard about the struggles that The Land of the Danes was facing. He decided that he and his men would travel to The Danes and fight Grendel for these strangers.
I shall travel to The Danes to kill Grendel and save the day!!
Beowulf and his men loaded into a ship to travel to The Danes. Their journey was long and treacherous.
When Beowulf arrived to The Danes he went to visit the king to explain why he believes that he has the strength to kill Grendel. The king told him that many other great warriors have tried and failed against Grendel; still Beowulf continued to tell of his strength, and finally the King granted him permission to try.
I am a mighty warrior and I will defeat Grendel for you and your people!
Beowulf and his men went to Heorot to wait for Grendel. None of Beowulf's men were worried for their lives because they trusted that Beowulf could protect them and kill Grendel.
When night came the men waited for Grendel to appear. When he finally did, Beowulf and Grendel went to war without any weapons. They were both very strong, but Beowulf was stronger... Beowulf ripped off Grendel's arm with just his own strength. Grendel fled the hall and returned back to his swamp where we killed himself.
When the people of The Danes heard that Beowulf had killed Grendel they all celebrated at the hall. Beowulf and his men eventually went back to Geatland. Eventually King Hygelac died in battle, and Beowulf was made the King of Geatland. THE END
