Sad day today,North Carolina was hit by a Category 5 Hurricane that ripped through a small beach town, killing fifteen people
Yes Chad, very devastating!
Carol (38) was married to Clark, with two kids, Leslie (16) and Katherine (10). Sadly, Clark was one of the casualties in the hurricane flooding. She was devastated, and the nearby restaurant in which she worked got destroyed.
What are we going to do?
The family loved spending time at the beach, plying games, having picnics, and talking strolls in the sand . The hurricane took that way from them, aswell as their income, and their father who made all the money, so they needed help. Leslie had learned about Disaster Unemployment Assistance in school so they decided to try it out.
The Disaster Unemployment Assistance is a government program in which provides unemployment benefits and reemployment services to individuals who have become unemployed as a result of a natural disaster. Their purpose is to help people get back on their feet after a disaster.
Welcome to DUA
Two weeks later.....
Its actually Ms. Stevens now, I lost my husband in the hurricane. He made all the money in the family and now he's gone. Also the nearby restaurant in which I worked at part time was destroyed so I can no longer work there.
I'm so sorry, but the good thing is you qualified for the program. You meet our exact requirements of losing your job or working family member that makes the money due to the incident.
What qualifies you for this program Mrs. Stevens?
Now the family of three lives in a little apartment that the DUA helps pay for, and Carol is now working as a manager at the most popular restaurant in town. Also they have been saving a lot lately because of the program helping them pay for things. Carols job is now paying her well, so soon they will not need the program.
