No battles were fought during the cold war. The U.S.A and Soviet Union had tension over different ideas and beliefs which eventually led to the cold war in 1947.
The U.S was worried of the rapid growth of communism and the USSR knew the U.S. has nuclear weapons.
When the U.S. refused to share nuclear secrets tension became stronger.
The USSR's need for a secure western boarder made the U.S. nervous.
When the USSR's plan for world communism became more real the United States said they would take nuclear action if needed.
