In the begining of chapter 4 Dill was getting ready to go home to Mississippi.
Scout is very excited and nervous because shes going to school for the first time. At school Jem explained that they were to stay away from each other since they were in different grades.
During class after reading the alfhabet Mrs. Caroline got after Scout because she already knew how to read. And she said that her father should stop teaching her. Then Scout explained that reading just came to her she didn't learn it.
Later at recess Scout told Jem about everything that happened to her. And her mood about school changed to not really liking it. While Jem listened and tried to comfort her.
Back at the classroom everyone had there lunches out except Walter. When she asked him why he didnt have one. Then he explained to her that he couldnt afford one the way he was paid.
In the end of the chapter Scout and the other students leave to go home for lunch. And Mrs. Caroline is upset about how the school day.
