Storyboard Text

  • Coach Liam, I should be the flier, I’m so much better than Becky!
  • Olivia, you are using Oversimplification. This happens when you assume that there is one single cause for an outcome, instead of many. To be a flier you need to be more than just a good flier, you need to be a good team leader and get above average grades so that you can be a role model to your younger teammates.
  • Yeah, but I did community service last year; I’m a good person. If you don’t put me as flier in the next game then you must want people to think that cheerleaders are jokes.
  • Olivia, calm down, you are starting to change the subject to avoid the topic of discussion, which is known as a Red Herring. Doing community service and considering yourself to be a good person has nothing to do with you not being a flier. You are also using a Faulty Analogy, which is when you focus on irrelevant or inconsequential similarities between two things. Me not putting you as flier has nothing to do with me wanting people to think that cheerleaders are jokes.
  • Coach Liam, you are only thinking this way because you are an inconsiderate human being who doesn’t know how to do his job!
  • Olivia, I think you need to leave and talk to me tomorrow when you have time to gather your thoughts. You are getting very heated and attacking me as a person rather than addressing the issue of you wanting to be flier, which is known as an Ad Hominem.
  • Whatever old man, I don’t need you to tell me what to do; you’re not my dad.
  • Coach Liam, I’m really sorry for being so rude yesterday. I was just so furious that I didn’t comprehend how my harsh would make you feel. I was in a really bad mood yesterday; my dog died and my mom took away my car. I promise I will make it up to you. I was wrong, you were just looking out for me and I really appreciate your concern about education and my character.
  • Next Day
  • I accept your apology, however, I don’t appreciate your Appeal to Pity. Had you tried to win my support by appealing to feelings of pity or guilt I would have let you off easy. Now, I have the perfect punishment in mind.  You will not be considered for flier for the next five games.
  • NOOOOO!!
