We're halfway there! We don't need your tainted languages ruining us!
You're too black
I guess he can come with us
I speak many languages, of many tribes, Xhosa, Twsana...
You speak our languages so you must be one of us.
In South Africa there was segregation races. Mixed people were a different category of race then black under law and were seen as a completely different race. The main character of my book, Trevor Noah, a mixed kid, struggled with finding his group. Mixed people didn't want him because he spoke African languages and they didn't want him to "bring them down". White people thought he was too black, and black thought he was too white. Once he showed the poor black kids at school he was like them and spoke their languages, he fit in better.
