This is when the Great Compromise was created, who Roger Sherman, played a huge part in.
The Great compromise stated that there were proportional representation in the House, but 2 representatives per state in the Senate.
They only count me as a third!
The North wanted the South to not count their slaves as part of their population since they didn't treat them like it .
The South of course wanted more power as did everyone in the situation which would have favored them.
In the end the convention decided to count slaves as 3/5 of a person in population. Which is now called the 3/5 compromise.
