Storyboard Text

  • Once at the schools the children were stripped of their cultural identity. Their hair was cut, they were forced to wear European style clothes and they had to practice the christian religion.
  • I will beat you until you understand my orders!
  • Children were beaten, rapped and physically and emotionally abused. Many children never returned home, and died at the schools
  • i want to go home
  • Yay!
  • The schools stayed open for over 100 years up until 1996 when the last school was closed. In present day the Canadian government has created the Truth and reconciliation act to help start the healing process for the survivors and to recognise and take responsbility for Canadas mistakes.
  • We can finally be with our familys and be proud to follow our culture!
