Jefferson Davis was born in Christian County, Kentucky, on June 3, 1808. Jefferson Davis became a staunch states’ rights Democrat and champion of the unrestricted expansion of slavery into the territories. He was elected to the U.S. Congress in 1845. in 1889 Jefferson Davis died.
Abraham Lincoln was born 1809 in backwoods cabin in Kentucky. Lincoln won the election for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1846. Lincoln opposed the spread of slavery to the territories. in 1854 Lincoln joined the new Republican Party–formed largely in opposition to slavery’s extension into the territories–in 1858. Lincoln gave a lot of speech he gave speech's like Founding Fathers, the Declaration of Independence and the pursuit of human equality. In 1860, Lincoln became the president he won the party's presidential nomination. but April 14,1865 Abraham died he was shot.
Robert E .lee was born in 1807 in Virginia. Lee came to military prominence during the U.S. Civil War. then he became the general of the Confederate forces serving under General Winfield Scott. Lee was committed he was offered to do something but he turned it down but Lee agreed to help lead the Confederate forces. He went on to become president of Washington College, which was renamed Washington and Lee University after his death. he died late September 1870, Lee suffered a massive stroke in his home.
Ulysses S. Grant was born on April 27, 1822, in Point Pleasant, Ohio.he joined the military .He had strong feelings about the war that it was wrong, and that it was being waged only to increase America's territory for the spread of slavery. 1853, Grant was promoted to be captain Ulysses S. Grant volunteered for a lot of wars. grant believed that taking down the Confederate armies was most important to the war effort. in 1869 Grant became the youngest president in U.S. history. later he left the White House and continued with his life. Grant died on July 23, 1885 from throat cancer.
William Carnery was born 1840 in Norfolk, Virginia. him and his family were slaves he dad escaped and later bought his family freedom so they moved to Massachusetts when the civil war came William wanted to support the war effect. In 1863, President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, and the Union Army began accepting black soldiers. later he was promoted to be a Sargent. when he came back to Massachusetts he became a prominent public speaker he inspired many African Americans debating their role in the Civil War .He died in 1908 from an elevator accident but people honored him.
Philip Bazaar was born in Chile he was an immigrant he was moved to Massachusetts so he joined the union navy to fight . he was first assigned to the USS Santiago de Cuba while it was during the American Civil War. he served two land assault on fort fisher this is were he carried dispatches during the battle while under heavy fire. then he got a award for his action that he did. he died December 28, 1923.
