  • Lonal D. Sanders U. S. Government Unit 1 Project Part 1 Constitution Storyboard
  • 1777-1781 During the Revolutionary War each of the former colonies established state governments. Then the Continental Congress drafted the Articles of Confederation which defined a state centered government. 
  • We need our own government.
  • 1781 - After the War there was an economic depression, which caused a rebellion. The people demanded a re-examination of the Articles of Confederation. The Federalist group was formed. They wanted a more centralized government. 
  • This government doesn't work!
  • We can fix it. 
  • 1787-A Constitutional Convention met in Philadelphia, and wrote a new Constitution. It laid out the plan for a federal government with checks and balances to ensure federal supremacy over laws but allowed state powers.
  • We couldn't fix it. So, we started over.
  • 1787-1788 The Constitutional Convention drafted the Constitution, but it was not ratified. The Federalist campaigned to get approval, while Anti-Federalists argued against it.
  • Sign the Constitution.
  • It will make America Great.
  • Article 7 - Ratification. This article includes all of the representatives who signed the Constitution for the thirteen original states.
