Today we are learning about Harriet Beecher Stowe
Harriett's first encounter with slavery
Oh My Gosh, that's horrible!
Her first time in an actual slave state she witnessed a slave trade, she knew that people needed to know what they went through and why it was wrong.
Her writing and publishing the book
Her book tell's stories about what slavery is like and slaves go through on a day to day basis.
The play of Uncle Tom's Cabin
People watched the play and that is exactly what she wanted. She knew if people could actyally witness something like that people all over the U.S would realize why it was wrong.
How the people reacted
The North believed the book let people realize why they said it was wrong and why it should stop
Even the president at the time (Abarham Lincoln) said, "The little woman who wrote a book that started a great war."
The south thought it was innacurate and that the book made lsavery lok worse than it was
Her Book was a cause of the Civil War by having the North realize what was actually happening and the South calling it inaccurate. This lead to the argument over slavery and the book causing verbal and physical fights. A War.
