The data shows that there have been more cautis on the unit. I will be doing audits so we can gather data on how to lower these numbers. Cautis are health care acquired infections. " Health care-associated infections (HAIs) are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients" (Septimus & Moody, 2016).

Good question! We will be looking for dependent loops, that the drainage bag is not on the floor, and that the original seal is on the tubing attached to the catheter.
Thank you for the information.
I will ensure those criteria are met for my patients and encourage others to do so as well.
Thank you for being open to positive change for our patients health and the good of our unit!
Cautis are dangerous and we want to keep our patients safe!
