  • Northern Free States: Feelings about state additions?
  • Adding new free states is good! It gives us an advantage in the Senate
  • I have to disagree...
  • Northern Free States: Feelings about the 36°30′ line?
  • It stops the spread of slavery above the line! 
  • And the South doesn't have much room to expand!
  • Northern Free States: Who was involved?
  • We will gain an advantage in the Senate!
  • Not if we can help It!
  • Northern states did not like the additions of slave states but welcomed the addition of free states.  They wanted to have an advantage in the senate by having more states. 
  • Southern Slave States: Feelings about state additions?
  • Adding new slave states is good! It gives us an advantage in the Senate!
  • At the time it was proposed, there would be more free states than slave states. They liked this compromise because it limited the spread of slavery.
  • Southern Slave States: Feelings about the 36°30′ line?
  • It protects the spread of slavery!
  • Which is fine I guess.
  • And we get more land when we take some of Mexico!
  • Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin
  • Southern Slave States: Who was involved?
  • Our regime shall dominate the continent (and the Senate)!

  • At the time it was proposed there was very little room for slavery to expand but it allowed it to expand nonetheless
