None of this people could vote. Here are the reasons why:
see you later!
In the background, there are slaves while in the foreground, there are people with different social classes. Children as well as women, slaves and foreigners couldn't vote because they were'nt considered as citizens whatever their salaries.
Children were too young to vote and slaves were'nt freeman (they also had work to do instead). Women were supposed to get married and to have children just so they could raise them, nothing more.
None of this people could vote. Now you know why.
Today, citizens are voting but the slaves (who are not citizens) are going to the field they work in. Tiberius is two years younger than his sister, Tiberia, who is twelve. Paulla,Tiberius and Tiberia's mother, and Junia, Paulla's sister, are both thirty years old.
Paulla wasn't poor but neither was she rich. Junia , thanks to Caligula (her husband), had a nice financial position but was still disapointed she couldn't vote today. Mania, whose husband died years ago, was going with her daughters (Octavia and Paulla) to the P .
All were excited however women were a bit annoyed they won't ever be allowed to vote. Know that Tiberia was aware of these and felt sorry for her mother, for her aunt especially for her grand-mother. Mania was extremly old but though she never went to school, never leant anything, didn't know how to write or to even read, she was still smart.
Statius and Caligula are two married freemen. Statius is in the army and is thirty six years old, meaning he can vote. Caligula is a rich fourty three-year-old citizen, meaning he can vote as well. The whole family is going to the voting place together.
Tiberia was outraged by her lack of rights. "I would be just as good as him, mother! Even better!", she kept repeating to Paulla. Tiberius wasn't realising the chance he had. He was just pleased to drive her sister mad.
Mania was so kind to her, she promesed herself to get the right to vote for her and every other women on Earth. On the other hand, when he is old enough Tiberius, will be able to vote. Unlike his sister, he could also go to school.
Now it is time for the Claudilla family to let the men accomplish their rights.
And maybe one day, we we'll remember the name of Statius Tiberus Opiter Roscius or the one of Caius Julius Cæsar Germanicus, who knows?
