STILL I RISE
You may write me down in history with your bitter lies, you may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I´ll rise
This is a poem by Maya Angelou, put into a storyboard to show TWIST
Did you want to see me broken? Bowed head and lowered eyes? Shoulders falling down like teardrops, weakened by my soulful cries?
Maya is talking to "you" which are the haters. They are unknown and therefore all black. She´s telling them that they can write whatever they want about her in the history books.
You may shoot me with your words, you may cut me with your eyes, you may kill me with your hatefulness
Even though the haters try to trod her in the dirt and lie about her, she will still rise like dust and go above what the haters are saying and trying to do.
But still, like air, I´ll rise
The haters wants her to suffer. Maya is questioning this and asking them different questions.
She tells them that they might shoot her with their words, and kill her with your hatefulness.
You will never make it
But no matter what, she´ll still, like air, rise.
