  • King Louis XVI and His queen Marie Antoinette ruled over France during the French Revolution.
  • one of the reasons that France got into debt was that The french helped the American Revolution against the British.
  • Another issue was that wheat was low and the people were dying of starvation.
  • In response to the crisis, Louis XVI called a meeting of the Estates General, the closest thing that France had to a national parliament, which hadn’t met since 1614. The Estates General was a parliament made up of representatives from the First Estate, the nobles, the Second Estate, the clergy, and the Third Estate, everyone else.
  • Though the royal family was living in versailles due to gods mandate enlightement thinkers like kant said that religion is "mans release from his self cause immaturity primarily in matters of religion.
  • The radical move in the National Assembly came on August 4, when they abolished most of the Ancien Régime - feudal rights, tithes, privileges for nobles, unequal taxation, they were all abolished - in the name of writing a new constitution.
