Storyboard Text

  • September 490 B.C.  600 ships and 300,00 Persians came to the shore of Marathon to fight the Greeks.
  • For 4 days the Greeks and the Persians stood there nervously.
  • Meanwhile, Pheidippides ran day and night across 140 miles of land in 2 days to Sparta to ask them if they would fight alongside them. Unforchionetly the Spartans were not able to due to a religious festival. So Pheidippides ran back to Marathon.
  • Some of the Persians got back on the boast and sailed around to Athens to attack it. 
  • The Greeks found out about Persians plan to attack Athens. So the Greeks ran into battle defeating the Persains.
  • Pheidippides ran another 26 miles to Athens to share the good news but once he got there HE FELL DEAD from over exhaustion.
