  • The Knight is introduced in his tale as Theseus, Duke of Athens, who conquers the Amazons and marries the Queen of that Land. 
  • “There was a duke who was called Theseus; He was lord and governor of Athens”
  • “He conquered all the land of the Amazons, That once was called Scithia, And wedded the queen Ypolita”
  • Since the Knight won all the land of the Amazons, he also wedded the Queen of what used to be called “Scithia”, the Queen’s name was Ypolita
  • “And brought her home with him into his country, with much glory and great ceremony”
  • “And also her young sister Emelye”
  • When the Knight marries the Queen of Scithia, he also takes her younger sister.
  • The Knight celebrates his victory
  • ”And thus with victory and with festivity”
  • ”I leave this noble duke riding to Athens”
  • After Theseus’ successful conquer, he returns home to Athens
