The night of Thoreau's arrest Ralph Waldo Emerson comes to his cell and ask him what he was doing there,
Thoreau ask he what he isn't doing in there, acting as a symbol for future idealist.
After his experience in the prison cell Thoreau write Civil Disobedience , which highly impacts more movements, and fuels civil war arguments.
