The younger family lives in a very small apartment in Chicago. Big Walter has died and there is a $10000 life insurance check due to arrive soon. Walter hopes to use it for a liquor store, other family members hopes to use for mama, but Mama isn't sure what she will do with it.
Mama buys a house in Clybourne park where all white neighborhood Walter feels no one listening to him about his business. However except Walter, all the families are happy and excited for moving the house. (foreshadow of racism)
Mama decides to gives Walter the $6500 to use $3000 to put aside for Benetha's university tuition and other $3500 to invest in his business. Mr. Lindner visited to Walter's house and offers them a significant amount of money to stay out of the neighborhood, but they reject.(Racism)
Willy took all of the money they gave him for the liquor store business and took off. Also he never put aside the $3000 he was supposed to put into the bank for Benetha's university tuition. (american dream)
Mr. Lindner visit their house again after they lose all the money, however Walter reject again because of Travis.
Finally they move their house and mama achieve the dream. All the family member give mama a presents and Travis gives her a big hat.
